Hypnobirthing classes in Brighton: what to expect
By Suzie Peissel
Quick answer
What formats are available in Brighton?
Two main options cover most parents: a group course (usually 4 × 2.5-hour sessions across two weekends, small cohort) or a private 1:1 course in your own home. There is also a 4-hour Intensive for parents in the final weeks of pregnancy who want a focused top-up.
Where do classes happen?
Group courses are held at small local venues — quiet spaces that suit the relaxed, conversational format. Private sessions happen in your home, anywhere in Brighton and Hove. Either way, the format is evening- or weekend-based and works around most work schedules.
What will I actually learn?
Each course is built around The Calm Birth Method — the proven techniques of hypnobirthing without the fluff. Across the sessions, you will:
- Learn breathing techniques for every stage of labour
- Understand what your body is doing during contractions and why
- Build a flexible birth plan that reflects your preferences
- Practise guided relaxation and visualisation with take-home MP3s
- Discover the specific, practical role your birth partner plays
- Explore your rights and how to advocate for your choices in hospital
How much does it cost?
Group Hypnobirthing Course: £250 per couple. Private 1:1 Hypnobirthing Course: £400 per couple. Intensive Antenatal Class: £180 per couple. All prices include course materials, MP3 recordings, and ongoing WhatsApp/email support until your baby arrives.
How far in advance should I book?
Most Brighton parents book when they are around 20-28 weeks so there is time to practise the techniques. Classes do fill up — especially ahead of busy birth months — so it is worth getting in touch earlier rather than later, even just to be on a waiting list.
How do I book?
The simplest route is the Hypnobirthing in Brighton page — register your interest and we will be in touch personally with upcoming dates. There is no online booking, on purpose: every enquiry gets a real conversation first.
