Where are you in your pregnancy?
Enter the first day of your last period and follow your baby's development — month by month.

Month 1
The very beginning
Most people don't even know they're pregnant yet. The fertilised egg has implanted and is developing rapidly — forming the foundations of the brain, spinal cord, heart, and digestive system.

Month 2
Tiny but busy
Your baby's heart is beating. Tiny buds are forming where arms and legs will grow, and facial features are starting to take shape. Morning sickness may be kicking in for you.

Month 3
Almost out of the first trimester
Fingers and toes are now fully separated. Your baby can open and close their fists, and their face is looking unmistakably human. The risk of miscarriage drops significantly at the end of this month.

Month 4
Second trimester begins
Your baby is moving — stretching, yawning, and even sucking their thumb. The skeleton is hardening from cartilage to bone. Many parents feel a burst of energy as the nausea fades.

Month 5
You might feel those first kicks
This is often when parents first feel movement — a flutter, a bubble, or a definite kick. Your baby can hear sounds now, including your voice and heartbeat.
Month 6
Growing fast
Your baby's lungs are developing rapidly, and they're practising breathing movements with amniotic fluid. They respond to light and sound, and their sleep-wake cycle is becoming more defined.
Month 7
Third trimester — the home stretch
Your baby can open their eyes and will turn towards bright light. The brain is developing rapidly, and layers of fat are building up. Movements may feel different — more rolls and pushes than kicks.
Month 8
Nearly there
Most babies move into a head-down position. The lungs are almost fully mature, and your baby is gaining about half a pound a week. You might feel Braxton Hicks contractions as your body practises.
Month 9
Ready to meet the world
Your baby is fully developed and just putting on the final layers of fat. The average baby weighs around 7–8 pounds at this stage. Labour could begin any day now — your body knows what to do.
